FAQ // PROCESS

  • How long does a repair take? Standard lead time is 7-14 business days from hardware check-in. Specialized parts sourcing may extend this window significantly.
  • What if it's unrepairable? If parts are extinct or gear is beyond economical repair, we only retain the initial $60 diagnostic fee for technician labor time.
  • How do I get status updates? Our system sends automated email notifications upon intake, when an estimate is ready for approval, and upon service completion.

FAQ // LOGISTICS

  • How should I pack my gear? Use a rigid box (no envelopes) with at least 2 inches of tightly packed padding on all sides. Secure body caps and remove batteries.
  • When is payment due? The diagnostic fee is paid upfront to book your slot. The remaining repair balance is billed upon completion, prior to return shipping.
  • Do you fix digital cameras? No. Relics is strictly an analog-focused lab. We service 35mm and Medium Format film equipment only.

ESTIMATES & APPROVALS

For Diagnostic intakes, we will email a detailed quote for parts and labor. Work will not proceed until this quote is approved. If declined, only the base diagnostic fee applies.

RIGHT TO REFUSE

We reserve the right to decline service on equipment with catastrophic damage (e.g., saltwater immersion, heavy sand contamination) if a reliable long-term repair is deemed impossible.

WARRANTY TERMS

Mechanical repairs are warrantied for 180 days. This coverage applies strictly to the specific parts/labor performed and is voided by water, sand, impact, or user mishandling post-return.

UNCLAIMED GEAR

Hardware left in the lab for over 90 days following service completion notifications or a declined estimate will be classified as abandoned. These units may be sold or recycled to offset operational costs.
